About: The Blue Darter Band from Apopka, Florida is delighted to represent Apopka High School and the wider Orlando area as musical ambassadors in the London Parade 2026. With over 250 student musicians, this vibrant programme features the renowned Blue Darter Marching Band, four concert bands, two jazz ensembles, a percussion ensemble, and a variety of other ensembles that champion the performing arts throughout the year. The band proudly provides the soundtrack to Friday night football at Apopka High and plays a key role in the cultural life of the school and its community. A highlight of their calendar is hosting the Orange Blossom Jazz Festival – a two-day event held at the Apopka Amphitheatre which welcomes over 50 school jazz bands in a spirited celebration of jazz and community engagement. The ensemble is led by Mr Jeremy Langford, now in his twelfth year at Apopka High School and his twenty-third year as a music educator. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Troy University and a Master’s from Florida State University – part of which he completed at FSU’s London Study Centre on Great Russell Street. About: The Mercer Island Band Programme is absolutely thrilled to announce its participation in the London Parade 2026! Hailing from Washington State in the United States, this proudly no-cut, non-competitive, and fully inclusive band programme is a shining example of musical excellence and community spirit. With nearly 250 students in the high school band alone—and more than 600 students involved across Years 5 to 12 throughout the Mercer Island School District—one in every five high school students is a proud band member. The band prides itself on creating opportunities for all, and their dedication has led to performances on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. The Mercer Island High School Marching Band recently brought their energy and talent to the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. They have also represented their community internationally, having performed in Puerto Rico, Sydney (Australia), China, and the legendary Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. With over 150 members strong, this dynamic ensemble is the pride and joy of Clayton County Public Schools, and they’re known across the US for lighting up every stage, field, or parade route they grace. Whether it’s a football stadium or a presidential lawn, the Cardinals never miss a beat – and they never fail to bring the wow-factor! Under the extraordinary leadership of Lynel Goodwin, who took the band from a modest 15 members to the powerhouse it is today, the Cardinals have strutted their stuff in some truly iconic moments. They’ve been invited to the White House by none other than former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, featured in the world-famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and lit up screens during a Super Bowl halftime commercial with global superstar Usher. About: We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the West Pride Marching Band and the Overland Express Jazz Ensemble from Shawnee Mission West High School will be returning to the London Parade in 2026! With this appearance, the band marks a record tenth performance at the Parade over the past 30+ years—a remarkable testament to their enduring talent and international spirit. Known for their electrifying energy and precision, the West Pride Marching Band brings the heart of the American Midwest to the streets of London, while the Overland Express Jazz Ensemble delights audiences with their rich, swinging sounds of classic Kansas City Jazz. Together, they create a musical experience that’s as dynamic as it is unforgettable. Behind the scenes, these dedicated young musicians and their supporters go the extra mile—literally! From weekend car washes to community concerts, they rally to raise the funds needed to make this transatlantic journey a reality. In fact, one recent car wash raised over $18,000 in a single day—a shining example of teamwork and determination. At the helm is Dr Bill Thomas, now celebrating his 20th year as Director of Bands at Shawnee Mission West and serving as Performing Arts Coordinator for a school district of more than 27,000 students. Alongside him is Mr Kevin Hupe, the accomplished director of the jazz band and a professional trumpet player who regularly performs across the Kansas City Metro area.
